Many of us are under the mistaken impression that the gospel of Jesus Christ is to be presented to others as an offer, as if Jesus were the “Shamwow” guy and we could take it or leave it. The reality is that the gospel is a proclamation of truth to be obeyed. Mark understood this and presents the proclamation of truth in 1:14-15 as the heart of Jesus’ ministry.
