Welcome and thank you for entering The MATTrix. My name is Matt Privett and this has been my personal web page for over a decade now.
I am a 36 year old friend and slave of the Lord Jesus Christ. God, in accordance with His grace and mercy, and for His own glory, has saved me. He made me alive, bringing me out of darkness and into His marvelous light by means of the gospel, the good news about Jesus. The new life life He gave me compelled me to repent of my sins. He gave me faith to believe in His Son, who bore the full fury of God’s wrath for my sins, in my stead, on the cross. I have been forgiven. Thanks be to God. But not only that, I will live forever with Christ because I am united with Him in His resurrection. God raised Him from the grave on the third day so that I and all who trust in Him might not perish, but have everlasting life. Now, because He has commanded it and I want to worship Him, I strive to live a holy life, to be more like Christ, to know Him and to make Him known.
I am very happily married to Liz and have been since 2003. I am the father of Joshua (9), Lilyann (5), Hannah (4), Julianne (2), and two who are safe in the presence of God. Short of obeying Jesus Christ, I have no higher responsibilities than to love my wife and raise my children in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
I am a pastor, although right now without a church. I have pastored churches in Ohio, Kentucky, and North Carolina. Upon studying the Scriptures I believe it is the responsibility of every person to “do all to the glory of God” (1 Cor 10:31), therefore, this blog regularly includes posts related to the Bible, theology, the gospel of Jesus Christ, the church, and how Christians should confront the culture. It is my hope that you are edified by that, and I always welcome feedback, even when I don’t agree with it.
I graduated summa cum laude from Boyce College, the undergraduate school of SBTS, in May 2009 with a B.A. in Biblical and Theological Studies, with a minor in Christian Worldview and Apologetics, and have plans to pursue my Masters of Divinity through Liberty Seminary Online beginning January 2013.
I am a native of the great state of North Carolina. Born in Charlotte, where I spent my first 24 years, I have also lived in the mountains and at the beach, and consider myself thoroughly and forever a North Carolinian. Exiled to Louisville, KY, for school in 2006, I lived in Englewood, OH, before moving back, for the time being, to Polkton, NC.
I thank you very much for joining me on this journey. It is my prayer that what I write will edify, provoke thought, entertain, and most importantly for the serious stuff, help you grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (2 Pet 3:18) and do all to the glory of God (1 Cor 10:31).
