How old is the earth? How did we come to be and how did this world come to be the way it is? Science has various answers. Some Christians have various answers. Pastor Matt contends that Scripture has one answer in this Bible Q&A. (Note: There are pockets of quietness in the audio because there was some discussion during the lesson.)

We read in books and sometimes see on TV the testimony of those who claim to have been in heaven, sometimes in a death/near-death experience. But do these testimonies reconcile what we read in the word of God? Pastor Matt examines the topic from Scripture.
The believer's purpose while still on this earth is to proclaim the excellencies of Jesus Christ, but you can't do that if you are still living according to the desires of the old self. Listen as Pastor Matt explains what Peter is saying, that we are in a constant war with the flesh that will not end until we are in the presence of Christ. Thankfully, He has given us the power to win.

The apostle Peter has been writing to his readers and how great a salvation they have, and this is cause to worship God and obey Him. All the while Peter is pointing to the second coming of Christ. One problem though: Peter's readers haven't experienced the second coming yet. Neither have we. They're being persecuted. Persecution and trials are happening today. Peter knows this, so he comforts his readers by telling them that there are some great advantages of their salvation that are very real even today. One of those is security. We are absolutely secure in Christ. The other is the advantage of getting to love Jesus Christ. Not everyone can do that. Listen as Pastor Matt explains why these two advantages cannot overstated.

The apostle John was much like his brother James, passionate, loud, sometimes sinfully intolerant, sometimes unloving. However, Jesus changed him into a disciple who would write a beloved Gospel, three rich letters, and the Revelation of Jesus Christ.
Just who were these twelve men Jesus summoned to Himself and made His inner circle of disciples? Pastor Matt begins to examine them in this message on the man who would become known as the apostle Peter. Peter's testimony is one of conversion, failure, and restoration. God took him from being a swaying, vacillating man and turned him into a rock of the faith. If He can do it with Peter, He can surely do it with us as well.

God has lavished His amazing, incomprehensible, sacrificial love for those He is saving through His own Son Jesus Christ. That same type of love is how we are to relate to other believers in Jesus Christ. Peter says we are to "fervently love one another from the heart."
